VRM ICOPA 2022 Appearance

Thursday 4th August 2022

ICOPA 2022 (Copenhagen, 21-26 August) is one of the largest parasitology conferences in recent years. The 2022 theme is “Living with Parasites”. This 4 yearly event is an ideal opportunity to cooperate with key individuals and companies in our industry. VRM on behalf of its affiliates (NWBP, RRL and Vetspin) have taken a booth at the conference. We aim to network with a diverse array of attendees due to the broad nature of the conference. We intend to use ICOPA 2022 for establishing new contacts and commissions.

As always if you have any direct queries, you may also contact us.

The conference covers both veterinary and human parasitology with a heavy focus on research surrounding malaria. Based on the list of papers to be presented there is a strong focus on vaccinology.

The European Veterinary Parasitology College (EVPC) annual meeting (Thursday 25 August 2022, 1.00 – 2.00 pm) is integrated into the conference program. This EVPC meeting will provide some insight into parasitology initiatives along with current news in the veterinary field, and can be viewed by virtual means for members who cannot physically attend.

The International Symposium for Fish Parasitology is also integrated into sessions at the conference.

Topics in the ICOPA conference include: challenges and ramifications of eradication of parasites; environmental consequences; interactions between mitochondria and parasites; beneficial effects of hosting parasites; evolutionary arms races between hosts and parasites. There will also be some general educational symposiums focusing on parasite groups including helminth worms.

Topics of particular relevance include:

  1. Diagnostics, phylogeny and genomics
  2. Epidemiology, pathology and impact
  3. Immunology, immunity and vaccine development
  4. Prevention and treatment, drug resistance
  5. Parasitic zoonoses and vector-borne diseases
  6. Other studies related to parasites of domestic and wild animals
